AAII Pittsburgh Chapter
Rational Investing/VectorVest
Special Interest Group

The AAII Rational Investing SIG applies fundamental and technical analysis to make rational investing decisions, primarily using the VectorVest software and database. This group of active individual investors meets quarterly to improve their skills in using VectorVest and similar resources for active position trading.

The meetings cover various proven methods for determining market direction and vigor, selection of the most attractive stocks or ETFs, and knowing when to enter and exit each position (injection and rejection). Active users share their insights and experiences and address issues of interest and concern to attendees.

Each three-hour meeting starts at 6 pm (5:30 registration) with a review of basic elements of the VectorVest software for timing the market, stock selection strategies, and holding rules and duration. After a brief break, experienced users discuss the mechanics, rationale, and application of specific techniques and methods, responding to questions and comments from attendees.

Presentations are not limited to VectorVest.  Wide ranging topics of investor interest such as Global Oil Industry, Contra ETFs, Chandelier stops, position sizing and risk management, basics of technical analysis, Forty-Year market cycles and the Kondratiev Wave.

Who should attend?

AAII SIG meetings are open to the public and are not limited to VectorVest users or to members of AAII.  Novices, as well as seasoned investors, benefit from the ideas and insights presented.

Meeting Location

All meetings are held at the Westinghouse Research Center ( get directions ) and a modest entry fee covers room and equipment costs.
