AAII Pittsburgh Chapter Getting Started SIG
The philosophical approach of the Getting Started SIG is to keep investors aware of the special advantages they have as small, independent investors. Special emphasis is given to small cap equities that are not generally followed by the media, as well as the market inefficiencies that often exist in smaller capitalized equities and closed-end funds. Investors are advised at each meeting on how to keep their emotions under control, and how to use the fear-emotional based broadcast media to their advantage by adopting a contrarian approach to an emotionally driven stock market. Past topics include: - Value Investing
- Income Investing
- Closed End funds
- Basics of Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs), and their associated indices
