AAII Pittsburgh Chapter Technical Analysis Application SIG
Computers have become technical analysis tools for the recognition and application of investing systems. The focus of our study group is to understand and recognize the advantages and limitations of a defined software approach to investing. Our education goal is to describe the construction and application of popular measuring indicators that users will be able to apply in a knowledgeable manner. Trend recognition and strength are key to riding more profitable investment vehicles. Flexible software packages such as AmiBroker and MetaStock incorporate most of the indicator systems usually employed in the back-testing strategies presented. Good discipline is encouraged to examine the framework and execution of an investment approach. The framework includes the following steps: - recognizing reasonable investment opportunities and entry points
- defining profit and loss control exit points
- employing money management for risk exposure
- monitoring both the progress of a portfolio and the reasonable alternatives currently available.
